Project Overview
Korpra developed a comprehensive application for testing CAM Phasers, enabling operators to select and playback engine profiles with high precision. The application integrated various devices to control system components, including environmental chambers and hydraulic valves.
System Architecture
A PLC sub-system managed the hydraulic valves, while a National Instruments cRIO Real-Time and FPGA system handled data acquisition and ensured accurate engine timing. This dual-architecture allowed precise real-time control alongside deterministic safety interlocking.
Engineering & Automated Modes
The application featured an engineering mode screen for manual control of mechanical aspects during testing and diagnostics, as well as an automated test section where operators could use Excel to create, modify, and recall test recipes. This approach eliminated programming knowledge requirements for test engineers creating new profiles.
